About talkVancouver.ca

Welcome to talkVancouver. Although the name of the site pretty much says it all, we created this forum as a place for people in Vancouver to chill, vent, advise, befriend, and amuse. It's a place where open-minded, interesting, and intelligent people can talk about the things going on in their life without worrying about what other people think. I don't know about you, but I love conversations with interesting people - you get a fresh perspective on things and learn something new everytime!

Forums have been around since the early days of the internet and have catered to a specific human need which we will always share - a need to conservate and discuss things that are going on around us. Although there's a lot of talk these days about "social media" like Facebook and Twitter, real internet users know that the internet has always been social. Without the ability to connect with other people, it wouldn't have existed in the first place!

For this reason, I hold a strong belief that value is created through discussion. Quote it, tweet it, or facebook it because that's how great discussions are created. Since the beginning of civilization, humans have gathered in coffee houses, pubs, parks, and other social places to quench their thirst to talk. The only difference is that these days, it's easier and more effective to do it online!

talkVancouver is founded on the core values of fairness, diversity, and accountability. You can say whatever you want, as long as it isn't derogatory or negative towards another memeber of the site. There are lots of saavy and interesting people in Vancouver... let's find enough of them to create the best online community Vancouver has ever seen!
