Last time Gurbaksh Chahal came to Vancouver was in 2009, when he spoke at the Bell Center for Performing Arts. Among the many lessons and experiences he chose to share from the world of entrepreneurship, some of the most memorable were the importance of building a good team, the difference between having an idea and executing that idea, and successful startup strategies. Having sold his first company "ClickAgents" for $40 million at the age of 18 and his second company "BlueLithium" for $300 million only 7 years later, Gurbaksh definitely knows what he's doing when it comes to business.
It's hard to tell kids not to drop out of school when you've done it yourself, but Gurbaksh did a great job of providing guidance and leadership to all those in attendance, and even fielded questions from the audience! Considering the fact that he was born in Punjab and achieved such a high level of success in such a short period of time, Gurbaksh has a great story to tell. If nothing else, it leaves you inspired to achieve and begin your own journey. Gurbaksh's story is captured best in his self-written book, titled "The Dream." The Dream is a great read and I highly recommend it to any creative, motivated, and business-minded individuals out there. It's easy to read, well written and hard to put down... plus you learn a lot of things that Gurbaksh had to learn along the way.
Gurbaksh will be speaking in Vancouver again on October 15th at Darpan's annual red carpet gala, where they will be presenting awards for extraordinary excellence. I'm sure Gurbakh's keynote will be one to remember, and partial proceeds are going to the BC Cancer Foundation so see you there!

Here's a full profile and interview of Gurbaksh on Oprah. This is the first time I heard about Gurbaksh, and I was left in awe after learning about his story and how he was bullied in high school. Check it out, it's out a must watch!
